As an innovative propulsion device, the idea of flapping foils comes from fishes and cetaceans which employ their oscillating fins or tails for astoundingly adept swimming. In current work, the performance of flapping foils is predicted by potential flow theory with leading edge separation included. The developed method can be further used as a fast design tool for flapping foils. |
