MIT VMS shares core knowledge underlying its globally recognized Team Mentoring methods with other academic institutions and economic development agencies. The MIT VMS Outreach Programs are designed at several levels:
Outreach Hands-on Immersion Training - Jump starts your program. Users say this training has helped them adopt practices that would have taken 3-5 years to develop independently.
Outreach Extension - Outreach Global - Customized Consulting - Designed for those who have taken Outreach Immersion and are customized to meet the needs of their institutions or agencies.
Outreach Overview Workshops - Participants learn the benefits of establishing a formal venture mentoring program for their entrepreneurs and their institution or agency, and gain understanding of MIT VMS methods.
Venture Mentoring User's Group -
Annual User's meeting to share experiences and engage in group learning.

Outreach Extension
This 2½-day curriculum simulates the Outreach Immersion Program but takes place at the participant’s site. It is provided to institutions that have taken Outreach Immersion and want to introduce the program to a broader audience. Tailored to the needs of the institution, this program includes the same topics as the Immersion Program and can be used to “train the trainers” at your location. An MIT VMS team travels to your site to facilitate this training.
Outreach Global
The Outreach Global Program takes place at the participant’s site, where instructors from MIT VMS deliver a customized combination of the Outreach Immersion Program and the Outreach Extension Program. While live exposure to the Monthly Mentor Meeting cannot be provided, the balance of the Immersion and Extension components are included. Outreach Global’s advantage is its ability to expose the participant’s entire Leadership Team, Staff, and a large group of Mentors to the MIT VMS designed program.
Customized Consulting
Customized programs can be designed to meet the specific needs of your institution to meet whatever needs are not immediately met through other programs. Local workshops also can be arranged at a participant’s site or another location to serve particular needs as your formal venture mentoring program is being established.

Venture Mentoring User's Group
After an institution has participated in Outreach Immersion Course, the Outreach Extension Course or the Outreach Global Course and has intiated its own mentoring service, their institution automatically becomes a member of the Venture Mentoring Service Users Group.
The Users Group meets annually to share experiences and engage in group learning. MIT VMS develops the agenda in collaboration with the participating Users. This program has been in existence since 2006 and the learning and relationships built between institutions have been of great value to all participants
