The Vice President for Research has overall responsibility for research administration and policy at the Institute. He oversees more than a dozen interdisciplinary research laboratories and centers, including the MIT Lincoln Laboratory, the Broad Institute, the Plasma Science and Fusion Center, the Research Laboratory of Electronics, the Institute for Soldier Nanotechnology, the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research & Technology, the Francis Bitter Magnet Laboratory, Haystack Observatory and the Division of Health Sciences and Technology. The Office of Sponsored Programs, Technology Licensing Office, International Scholars Office and Division of Comparative Medicine, among others, report to the Vice President for Research. The VPR is responsible for research integrity and compliance and plays a central role in research relationships with the federal government, industry, foundations, and international sponsors.
