Kendall Square

Years ago Kendall Square was just another stop on the T's (read: subway's) red line, but today the area hosts restaurants, high-tech businesses, and shops like the MIT Press Bookstore and the MIT Coop, where you can pick up textbooks and insignia t-shirts. Weekend crowds descend on Kendall Square Cinema, universally acknowledged as the area's best theater for indie and art films. Harvard Square shopping is two stops north, and Park Street, the central point of the T, is two stops south.
