brownies mix 1/3 cup flour with 1 cup water. cook until thick and cool completely. melt .5 cup margarine (for vegan, look for kosher K-parve) add 2/3 cup cocoa and stir until smooth. cool. beat 2 cups sugar, .5 tsp salt, and 1 tsp. vanilla into cooled flour mixture, then add cocoa mixture. mix together 2 cups flour and 2.5 tsp. baking powder and add to abouve ingredients. add .5 cup chopped walnuts, if desired. bake in oiled 9x13 pan at 35}i0 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes (for fudge brownies, decrease flour to 1.5 cups, baking powder to 1.5 tsp)
