Received 13:59:08 on 01/31/91, Posting # 2 ***** Subject: Sweet & Sour Tofu From: Live Long and Prosper The following is a recipe I received from GRANOLA@BROWNVM.BITNET. I have not tried it yet but think it sounds pretty tasty. ==============BEGIN RECIPE==================== From: Shade Sweet and Sour Tofu (very simple conceptually, moderate prep time) extra firm or firm tofu cut in wedges about 1" x .5" x .25" bowl with eggs for dipping into (or other sticky substitute) plate with flour for rolling in (any- oat, rye, wheat, ...) pan with .1" hot oil for frying in until golden. And your favorite sweet and sour sauce for dipping into. My wife makes one with ketchup, vinegar and honey, I have yet to replicate it. I prefer the taste of pineapple, but I don't like making it into a sauce with corn starch. I like LaChoy's sweet and sour sauce (Heavily processed, probably not a better planet consumption). I am open for suggestions. -Jon ==============END RECIPE======================= "Experience is a wonderful thing--it allows you to recognize a mistake every time you repeat it." --Unknown InterNet: st6267@siucvmb.cdale.siu.edu Bitnet : ST6267@SIUCVMB Freenet : coming soon to a CRT near you... *****
