Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP). The table contains all of the CIP codes published in CIP-1990 and CIP-2000.

CIP_CATEGORY_CODE The series number or category of a CIP code; i.e. the first 2-digit of the CIP code. VARCHAR2 2
CIP_CATEGORY_TITLE The descriptive title of the 2-digit CIP category/series. VARCHAR2 100
CIP_FOUR_DIGIT_CODE The first 4-digit (sub-category) of a CIP code. VARCHAR2 5
CIP_FOUR_DIGIT_TITLE The descriptive title of the first 4-digit of a CIP code. VARCHAR2 100
CIP_KEY Use this field to join to another table with the same-name field (ie. CIP_KEY) for CIP information such as the CIP program code, category code, four-digit code, and the corresponding descriptions. VARCHAR2 7
CIP_PROGRAM_CODE The 6-digit CIP program code, e.g. 040201, 230101, 149999. CIP code is the NCES 6-digit national standard curriculum identification scheme which best identifies the subject-matter discipline VARCHAR2 7
CIP_PROGRAM_TITLE The descriptive title of the 6-digit CIP program code. VARCHAR2 200
