Using FileMaker to access the Data Warehouse


Connect to the Data Warehouse using FileMaker

  1. Install the oracle SQL*Net client for the Macintosh
  2. Install FileMaker
  3. From the Control Panel select the ODBC Control Panel
    • From The User DSN tab click on Add to add a new user data source.
    • Select the FileMaker 3.51 Oracle PPC driver.
    • Click on finish
    • You will be presented with a the FileMaker 3.51 Oracle PPC screen
    • From the General tab enter the following:
      • Data Source Name: aaude
      • Description: Merant Oracle 7.3 Driver (this is the default)
      • Server: aaude
    • From the Advanced tab:
      • Click on the Translate button
      • Choose Intersolv 3.01 OemToAnsi Translator PPC
        (If this is not an option choose No Translators)
      • Click OK
      • Click OK
      • Click OK
    The AAUDE ODBC driver is now configured.

Using FileMaker to Access Data in the Data Warehouse

  1. Start up FileMaker
  2. From the File Menu Bar
    • Select New Database
    • You will be presented with the FileMaker New Database Screen
      • Choose Create a new empty file
      • Click on OK
      • Give you new database a name and ckick on SAVE
      • Enter the field names that you want returned and click on Create
      • click on DONE
  3. From the File Menu Bar
    • Select Import Records
    • You will be presented with the Open File Screen
      • From the SHOW drop down menu choose ODBC
      • Choose the aaude data source that you created above
      • Click on OK
      • Enter the aaude username and password
      • Click OK
      • You will be presented with the SQL Query Builder
