MIT Data Warehouse FINAID AID APPLICANT Table


(Access to this table is restricted to the staff of Student Financial Services. Other authorized users are given access to the FINAID APPLICANT table.) This table contains the yearly status and summary information of all prospective financial aid applicants, including incoming freshmen and applicants, at MIT since financial aid year 1994. Information includes biographical data, financial aid data, enrollment profile data, admissions data, and summary of award data. There is one record per aid applicant per financial aid year.

Reply to an admissions decision. The period of which the student is eligible for financial aid. Values are: Full Academic Year, Fall Term Only, Spring Term Only, Summer Term Only, Summer/Fall (7.5 Month), and Twelve-Month.

BUDGET_GROUP

The budget group assigned to the student for the aid year. In each financial aid year, aid applicants are assigned an appropriate budget group for the need analysis process to determine the amount of financial aid a student is eligible for. Some of the budget groups are: Undergraduate Regular, Undergraduate Commuter, Undergraduate International, Graduate Regular, Graduate Non-Resident, etc.

Whether the person is really a financial aid applicant, as opposed to a prospective aid applicant. A financial aid applicant is someone who has submitted one or more of the following forms in good order: MIT Financial Aid Application for 1st time applicants (FRAPP), Electronic data from federal processor (FAFSAE), Electronic data from the CSS Profile Form (PROFIL), MIT Foreign Student Financial Aid Application (INTAPP), MIT Undergraduate Application for Financial Aid (UGRAPP), MIT Application for Financial Aid, the College Transfer Version (TRAPP), and MIT Graduate Loan Application (GLA). Students who are (re-)assigned the CANCAP ("Cancelled Application") tracking group are NOT considered as aid applicants. Y=Yes, is aid applicant; N=No, not an aid applicant.

In each financial aid year, aid applicants are assigned an appropriate tracking group to track the various different requirements (eg. documents, forms) needed to complete the financial aid application. Some of the tracking groups are: US Freshmen, US Freshmen with Divorced Parents, Continuing Undergraduates, International Freshmen, Graduates, etc.
