The following are my proposed goals from my FY 2004 performance review, but a review of my goals didn't happen at all through the year. We've improved the process for the FY 2006 planning.
Short term projects:
Get rid of discuss.
Deploy a jabber server and cross-connect Zephyr and AIM
AFS Everywhere efforts.
Long term effort:
Investigate more product and service offerings on the
Macintosh platform.
In SDIT Program Manager role, I helped team members both in my former UNIX/Linux team and in the Windows Development team to be productive and more accountable through the year. This consisted of project management tasks, mentoring tasks, and shepherding the deployment and beginning use of GForge for task tracking.
In the Vendor Liaison role, worked on the Red Hat relationship, and worked with IBM to push for better Linux support.
In the Linux Platform Coordinator role, I Led the Software Release efforts to deploy IS&T support of stand-alone (non-Athena) Linux Operating System, update service, and a crucial subset of applications that put Linux support on par with the support offered for the Windows and Macintosh platforms.
I did a bit of reviewing and the Libraries space, but that role is a very small one these days.
With regards to the specific project proposed above, the Athena-related projects (discuss shutdown, jabber server) were never green-lighted. The Macintosh proposal was pursued to some extent. We made outreach to DUSP and CSAIL, and that may be fertile ground in the future.
I'd asked for follow-up on the goals through the year, but my boss at the time had more urgent matters to attend to and so no follow-up occurred until the FY 2005 performance review.
