Project High Winds
In Spring of 2010, MIT student team High Winds conducted a study of campus and local area developments in urban wind power for the Projects in Energy course. Team members Cat Thu Nguyen Huu, Alex Teuffer, Sharon Xu, and Minshu Zhan assessed the wind resource potential of campus building sites for prospective building-mounted turbines. Working with project leads, Kathy Araujo and Steve Connors, the team also evaluated urban turbine model performance, zoning advances in local municipalities and policy impacts on project economics.
