Marlene has a Ph.D. in English (1989) from Brandeis University and Masters Degrees in comparative literature (UCLA) and library and information science (Simmons). She is the Associate Head and Collection Manager for the MIT Humanities Library and the person responsible for buying books and journals in the fields of literature and women's studies. She has published articles on the politics of building library collections and on the political and social implications of electronic text. Her most recent essay is Cyberhope or Cyberhype? Computers and Scholarly Research. She is Vice Chair of the Women's Studies Section of the Association of College and Research Libraries. She and her colleagues have compiled a wonderful women and gender resource Women's and Gender Studies Web Links.
