Surface modifications define HYDRANT PLAY AREAS and support safe water play. The areas build on an existing program in which local fire stations monitor the opening and closing of set hydrants during the summer, using water -saving heads. The program was designed to make play safer and to conserve water. Yet two children were hit by vehicles while playing at hydrants last summer. Areas will continue to be sited according to citizen requests and site appropriateness. |
