abstract

The Pink Link Nursery is a series of small, fenced in, temporary and shifting mini-nurseries scattered across vacant properties in the West Philadelphia neighborhood adjacent to the Sulzberger Middle School. Each will exist for three years, and be tended by students from a common graduating class.

Every mini-nursery has its own, site-specific logic, and will define the space ouside its fence as well as that within. New mini-nurseries will be established annually with each incoming class of students, either on new sites or on sites that have already been used. Five are proposed for the first three years.

The mini-nursery interiors will be incorporated into an integrated curriculum that spans all three years that students attend the school. Over the longer termthe mini-nursery sites will shift around the neighborhood.
