Sounds in the city can be easily taken for granted. Often, those sounds which one associates with the urban landscape are those of mechanization, transportation, urban bustle, and human habitation, in general -- congestive noise. Sometimes we become so accustomed to these sounds that they simply become background or white noise to our senses. Additionally, we seem only cognizant of these sounds and do not hear the sounds of the natural environment, which despite our ignorance, do exist within the urban context. The urban forest project is an opportunity to bring forth both of these types of urban vibrations to the senses of those who will occupy the urban forest. |
