Elements
The retaining walls of the nursery serve two purposes. One is to demarcate the boundary of the planting beds and the other to guide a casual passerby through the areas used for the school activities. The walls follow the topography, sloping down towards the school. The inner walls are of a comfortable height for a twelve year old, so that he can easily look over it, climb and walk on its edge, or create a mural on the sides. The outer walls are a series of steps of stone and brick lattice work. The height would not be more than 3- 3 1/2 feet, making it possible for the outsiders to look in and feel part of the ongoing process without disturbing the students. |
