| The site chosen for the detention/retension basin is near the Sulzberger School located in the lowest point of the area. In addition the site allows an opportunity to locate a basin which could be used as an outdoor classroom for the school kids. The design proposal seeks to combine education and fun through several water elements and features for children and adults alike. |

| If we direct all the street runoff into the detention basin, the water quantity would be too much for such a small basin to handle. To be able to resolve the problem for the larger area, the solution needs to occur at the street level. The proposal therefore is to channelize the street water right into the detention channels on the road itself. These channels provide the aesthetic appeal to the asphalt roads and trap the water for sometime before releasing it into the sewer. |
