Description: The urban farm program was started in 19?? in Eugene, Oregon as a means to demonstrate ways to maximize food production in an urban environment. Its premise is that communities which work together to produce food crops are healthier, that the food produced by urban farmers is more nutritious than that bought in stores and that producing food locally puts more reliance upon the communities' resources and less on corporate food producers. As part of the urban farm, a school farms program was created. The curriculum is broken down into once-a-week activities relating to the four seasons.
