History and Wetlands

The History & Wetlands' counselor Kamni Gill, helps the children learn about the history of the "Mill Creek" area and what problems are caused by the Creek. They also learned what Wetlands are and how they are formed.

I think the wetlands program is a great thing for Sulzberger, because we didn't know anything about the wetlands until Ms.Kamni showed up. In Ms.Kamni's class we built a model of the wetlands.

Procedure

  1. We had brown clay with a cup of water.
  2. We had to pour water on the clay.
  3. Once we poured the water on the clay,0 we had to make a little hill.
  4. We put a piece of sponge and laid it at the bottom.
  5. We poured water on the model and it traveled to the bottom.

Wetlands trip- At our trip to the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge, children got to explore the habitats of a wetland. They learned what animals and plants live there and what a real wetland looks like.
