not all these webpages have been updated - the update will come when I have
more disk space.
See the webpages above for a few of our successful images. I didn't have enough Athena space to put up all the images we have so far. Not-so-successful images are included below for your entertainment.
We created a pitch on Maya which looks beautiful, and applied textures for the grass and the uprights. Here are some screenshots. We made some attempts at modeling the sky, which were mostly unsuccessful. We also tried cutting pictures of the pitch from a photograph, and using it as a background.
First attempt: modify the Mayan Cowboy.
As you can see from the screenshots, this never really worked out right. We
did, however, manage to modify him enough that he no longer looks like a cowboy.
Second attempt: modify the skinny Maya boy.
After we discovered that the skeleton was skinned, we began to change its clothing
to fit our needs. Some of the clothing turned out well. Then we discovered that
he didn't have any fingers, and his body would not always cooperate with new
positions. Here he is in a couple screenshots.
Third attempt: Poser girl, woman, and ref.
At first we were really excited about this software. We created a few people,
and ran into many problems. One really bad problem was trying to figure out
how to pose the rugby player and have her clothes always conform to her skin..
Our most recent try has been modifying the default girl and use her as our base player. That was successful (finally) and we have several shots of tackles and have begun a series of stillshots of scrums. We have a ref as well.
We have animated a simple kick, and will be animating other kicks as well (drop kick, grub kick, place kick).
