Update March 28, 2007

The schedule for the eighth offering of "When Support Gets Personal" will be announced in fall 2007. The goal of this interactive training is to better prepare us for student situations that require us to delve into more personal realms -- the times when our amazing administrative skills alone don't get the job done. Participants leave the program with a comprehensive understanding of MIT Support resources, the "red flags" a student in distress may exhibit, and the how to and the most effective means by which to refer students in need of those services. All sessions are interactive.

The program consists of 7 training sessions, spread out over 7 sessions (see Program Structure). Participant feedback from the first five programs has been predominantly and overwhelmingly positive, but the program continues to evolve based on recommendations. The program proved to be practical, enlightening, supportive and a definite "hit." Additional information, including copies of some of the presentations, is available on the Resources page.

You can get enrollment information by sending email Valarie Poitier, vpoitier@mit.edu. Space is limited to 20 participants, and there is often a waiting list! Participants are expected to attend all sessions.
