Possibly the Excursions have context or hints towards the truths What's in the PwoR: Religious Relics: Holy Grail: Opposed by atheists? Bring back King Arthur to take over some part of the real world? Sad girl whose mom's dying of cancer wants this Buddhist relic, apparently an enlightened mouse (animal) Technically a Boddhisatva who came back as an animal Interacts with Tara, the Buddhist Hindu relic Flying Spaghetti Monster Relic (Piece of Toast) End world hunger with large quantities of sphagetti? The Golden Book of All the Beautiful Proofs (of math) Could be useful Ambrosia In-game stat boost effect, addictive Fairy Godmother Wand Flying Castle Baba Yaga's Hut (a "Bad House") There may be some sort of quest tech tree, where you have to have some specific L1 stuff (a unicorn) to get something L2 (the Holy Grail) Possibly all Cool Stuff is obvious and you can only have one at a time The museum guy wants to get the Display Case of Holding Character ideas: (S: semi-brainwashed judge; I: independent judge; R: regular actor) S1. Wants to take over but make the PwoR a utopia/heaven Could change the ragged things to snatch "good people who die" Opposed by the strong Christian who thinks God already has a heaven S2. Judge who doesn't like their faction but likes being a Judge Needs to swap with an actor and back with a judge I3. Someone who wants to destroy the PwoR R4. Sad girl whose mom's dying of cancer R5. Pure mathematician who wants the book of proofs Wants to figure out the principles this place works based on HPMoR Pretending to be a robot to cover up for lack of social skills/logic R6. Drug lord who wants Ambrosia R7. Someone who wants to make the PwoR into a reality show people watch from earth "The Place without Recourse is just like a sitcom." R8. Apocalypse by Tribbles! Judges: You can swap a Judge and a PC This is how you, as an actor, take over the PwoR Possibly could include other parts of your nature? This could be a ritual that all judges know Metered by roleplay, but you want to figure out which faction you like Or which faction is going to win This also gets you some psychlims By default, most escapes work on actors but not judges, so many independent judges want to do this What happens to the PwoR by default? More interesting if it stays evil by default Maybe this is the result if one of the brainwashed judges win Faction/Genre: fairy tale: Hell mythological: Dark space opera: Heaven postapocalyptic: Wild hard SF: Light Escape: By default, the winning actor(s) may go free If a non-brainwashed judge becomes king, they may be able to let a different set of actors free If you've answered your question as an actor, you can go free but can't take anything with you Some more epic "create an escape" plot Possibly L1 actors L2 actors and judges plot Detrimental to the integrity of the PwoR Probably requires several Cool Things Could require or be easier with Inconvenient Truths proving lack of boundries Secrets: The ones handed out by Judges (especially brainwashed judges) have information about backstory and the Place Without Recourse worldbuilding, so this information gradually makes it into game. Backstory: The reason all the cool stuff is here is that at some point in the past, someone was all "all these magic items and creatures are really messing up reality and making things dumb, let's get rid of them so that humanity can be great." This created the Place Without Recourse and the Ragged Things. Mr. Kong? Maybe a brainwashed judge Confucius has some hints about this, and someone (math guy, etc) is trying to figure this out }}}
