Hodgell} The past falls from your eyes like a blindfold, and now you remember the truth. Computers had always interested you. So logical, so forthright, willing to do whatever you told them. A computer would never betray you or try to deceive you like a human might; they could be trusted. Your interest in computers and science has led you to a new friend, \ThomasMorgan, who is similarly interested in science (although for perhaps slightly different reasons. \ThomasMorgan{\They} is always willing to talk to you and give you information. You have even started to suspect that \ThomasMorgan{\they} shares your distrust of another judge, a very secretive judge. \Saruman. \Saruman is always going about secret experiments and ventures. \Saruman{\They} is a good example of why people cannot be trusted. Yet even \ThomasMorgan might yet betray you, despite your friendship. It was always the secrets that people kept from each other that caused them so much pain. You would find computers on the net that would happily tell you all the things that their owners wanted hidden, but of course that openness went both ways. You got caught, but the judge saw the purity of your motives and let you off with a slap on the wrist. Still, this taught you that the politics of your actions were important. A higher cause was ennobling, and one held and pursued sincerely and openly would let others see your ennoblement. So you set out to change the world. If tyranny required secrecy, you were going to break everything open. You were going to share everything with the world. You were going to destroy the tyranny that thrived in deceit and replace it with true democracy. Not an easy or quick project, but you were committed and others were too. But now, somehow, you're here, in this Place. A great change is approaching, and it is given to you to judge it. Judge it you will, and righteously. There is one secret in particular that involves you. When came to be here you heard Ii Ma wisper to you "**Are there any secrets that should remain so?**" This is the key that would let you escape from this place if you would have it so. Not a question you can ignore, but it doesn't obsess you like it does some others because you don't intend to leave. You want to fix this place. It is not yours to create a world with secrets. It is not yours to create a world with hierarchy. This place you create will be better than any you have known. There was once someone in this body who didn't have the strength of your convictions and still pecks around the edges of your consciousness, not always approving of your purpose. You ignore this, it must not distract you. You have been allowed this chance to truly form Utopia. You have been given this chance to make a truly just society. There are still secrets, but you can change that and make information free to all. Ii Ma is dying. Someone, one of you, will take his place. If you can take his power, you can make a place for those who agree with you. And the rules Ii Ma made are failing. You can reshape this place, promote the Hope that always comes from the free and equal sharing of knowledge. You can make a new, better world. Everything is waiting. People and information must both be free. And you will do what it takes to free them. == Goals == * Rule the Place Without Recourse. * Gather a complete database of all the Answers, and share it freely. * Get other people to help you with the database. Many hands make less-onerous work, and you'd be glad to spread your ideals. * Find out any other interesting or hidden information. * Promote Hope in the Place Without Recourse: fear is caused by ignorance, but knowledge promotes hope. username: claimedby: Andrew badgedesc: |- <> A Respectable, Professional \mf{Man}{Woman} number: <> castinghint: | Your character is \name, a judge in the Place without Recourse.
