It made you feel good, but it's really not what you were looking for,} body: |- \cenquote{“You remember how to come back from the dead, right?” he asks her.\\“Duh,” she says.}{---\emph{Jack o’Lantern Girl}} You were once a king. Yay! Then you went to Hell. Boo! Then you got released. Yay! Then you had trouble finding a job. Boo! Then you got a job as an actor. Yay! Then you had to change your name. Meh. Thus, the ancient king Tantalus ended up in Gibbelin's Tower as the actor Saul (by way of Hades in between). But you are of royal blood! You are a leader! And you know the secret of the gods! They don't let you lead in the acting troupe. Boo! But they let you play kings sometimes! Yay! Sometimes people think you're crazy when you tell them when you were born. Boo! Those people think some of the other actors are even crazier than you are. Like \Rahu{} and \DrugLord{}. Yay! But now you are in the Place Without Recourse -- carried away by Ragged Things with the rest of your acting troupe. When you arrived, the vast and horrid bulk that is Ii Ma leaned down to you and whispered a question into your ear. When that happened, you knew that you would be trapped here and unable to leave until you answer the question: "**Why did you lose your Kingdom?**" Ii Ma is the leader here. But not for long! See, Ii Ma lies dying, and his (its?) control over the Place Without Recourse is failing. You deserve to be the next ruler of the Place Without Recourse. Besides, nature abhors a vacuum. Someone has to step in and assume power, though you may need someone to assist with other matters, such as controlling the Ragged Things (which would control who gets taken here, but no matter...). This place has silly rules, like having to answer your question in order to leave or having to be a resident (and not a new arrival snatched by the Ragged Things) to take over. Boo! You can probably find a way to take over anyway. Yay! As the future ruler, you want to lead in all things. You want to lead the plays, which will help shape your future kingdom through the resources they will generate. As you build the land, you will lead expeditions to go on quests to search for artifacts of power that will be created out of nothingness. In particular, you wonder if the Ambrosia once favored by the gods could be here. If you could acquire that for yourself, it would surely prove you've overcome your past mistakes. You will act like a ruler! You will be awesome! (Never mind those thoughts in your head that say that your hubris was your downfall before.) == Goals == * Find a way to take over the Place Without Recourse. * Lead Shows and ensure that they shape this realm into a worthy place to rule. * Lead Quest expeditions. * Find the mightiest Treasure you can, ideally the Ambrosia of the gods. == Optional Reading == * [[http://imago.hitherby.com/2005/03/tantalus-looks-for-work-1-of-1/]] username: gender: m badgedesc: A Thin, Haggard \Human number: <> castinghint: | Your character is Saul, an actor newly arrived in the Place without Recourse.
