PUBLIC OPINION
CRISIS, 200... is a series of political-military-economic simulations
of world affairs run for high school students. Groups of students are
organized into teams, termed "countries," whose interests they are charged
with advancing.
Your duties will include:
- Familiarize yourself with the Rules for CRISIS and with the
politics of the country you are supervising.
- Lead the team in a discussion of its decision-making procedures. These
should reflect the procedures in use in the real-world country being played.
For example, a country in which the head of state makes all the decisions
will allow the head of the team to do so as well.
- Pay attention to what each team member is doing, so you can evaluate
whether the team is progressing toward its goals. Keep track of developments.
- Provide "Public Opinion" feedback to the team when they ask for it, and
if it is appropriate. (In some countries, the government doesn't care what
the people think.) DO NOT SUGGEST TACTICS OR COMMIT YOURSELF TO FAVORING ANY
PARTICULAR COURSE OF ACTION IN ADVANCE.
- Keep CONTROL informed on a regular basis of important developments within
the team.
- Give or withhold your endorsement if there is an attempt to overthrow the
government.
- Since public opinion is often fickle, you have the right to be so as
well, and may change your position at a moment's notice. (Don't do so just
to give them a hard time.)
