carrie okie band

carrie okie band are some folks who rock and roll in a basement in Central Square. Carrie sings and plays guitar and Okie shouts and plays drums, while matching girl and boy math majors mumble and play more guitars. The name is a pun!

Dirt Water Refuge

Dirt Water Refuge is a four piece band who's musical influences range all over the place from early 90's grunge and jazz to old country, folk, and blues records. As a band, they have a sound that is very unique in the Boston music scene. DWR frontman - Johnny Mazcko started his playing career as an acoustic one man show performing on boardwalks, in subways, bars, and coffeeshops from Maryland to Massachusetts. It was in Boston, where he later met lead guitarist - Nirajan Tuladhar. Nirajan was born in Kathmandu, Nepal where he had played in a chart topping touring rock band called Flower Generation and they immediately began writing songs together. Bassist - Labi Shretha joined the band after that and quickly became an integral part of the group with his incredible knowledge of recording and sound structure. Finally, the newest member of the band - Dominic Addesso, currently attends the Berklee School of Music and can be found playing in salsa groups and other various projects all over the city. The name - Dirt Water Refuge, is a testament to the band's love for the city of Boston, the friends and bands that have shown their love and support, and everyone else that helped out along the way.

Force the Fallen

A band from Waltham MA. Boys passionate about their music, their town, and the music community. In 2000 Manny and Rodger formed a band, later in 03 Rupam joined. Since then they have played shows all over New England, including a showcase of shows called the Rock of Waltham, created by Force The Fallen.

KC Quilty

KC Quilty appreciates, but does not utilize, the synthetic sounds of drum machines, just as KC Quilty appreciates the technology of the prosthetic heart despite our ability to pump blood without the aid of a machine. We drive with all our windows down listening to loud rock music and hope to emulate this experience every time we play. We are not artists and still we are.

Formed sometime between 2003 and 2007, KC Quilty has played in various incarnations throughout New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts, at such prestigious venues as Pyramid Club, The Webster, Milky Way Lounge and Dana Wickens' dorm room. Lately, we've been listening to Menomena, Autolux, and the Pussycat Dolls, all notable artists whose influences can be heard in our latest material.

We have one record-disc available for purchase on iTunes, titled Sign without a Sound. It was released under Sarah Dupuis' name in 2006, and costs $10 online, but since we are humans and not machines, we will sell it to you for $5 or an Anna's vegan burrito if you ask nicely in person.

Luvvly-Jubbly

Coming to you from across The Pond, this three-piece band of Brits will bring you something old, something new; music thats borrowed and maybe the blues. Get keen... it's gonna be Luvvly-Jubbly.

The band will be representing Cambridge University and hail from all parts of the UK: Geoff Wright (drums, Scotland) Stephen Gerrard (keys, Manchester) Ssegawa-Ssekintu Kiwanuka (vocals, London). On the night they will be joined on stage guest guitarist Jay Mee, flying in straight from England.

These Cambridge-MIT Exchange students will be bringing some of the hype that has kept audiences in Cambridge, UK excited for the past two years - it's gonna be a good time, don't miss out.

Mammoth Mardge

She is here and she is loud. With their zany stage antics and funked-up live performances the Men of Mardge have gained a reputation for pure Galactic-Funk-Magic and an energetic spaz-show that is unrivaled. Dabbling in the classics; performing masterpieces compiled by the great Stevie Wonderful and the one & only Sir James Brown, while representing the true-funk soldiers: Lenny Kravitz, the Chilis and Burt Bacharach. These goodtime-boys take liberty in re-arranging and further funkafizing the many great works in their ridiculous repertoire. Brace yourself for something funkysomething MAMMOTH. Funk didn't die with James Brown he passed it on to Mardge and her minions.

Pïraña

A band from MIT consisting of Serdar Karatekin (guitar), Xavier Gonzalez (guitar, vocals), Ravi Gupta (percussion, vocals), Mikey Fujihara (bass guitar, vocals), and Mike Fleder (percussion), Pïraña is a fiery blend of flamenco and latin rock. They combine demanding technicality with their passion for melody and rhythm to create an exotic, up-tempo sound that will leave most dancing, the rest floored, and all enthused with the mysterious power of duende.

The Red Decade

4 guys who enjoy the same kind of music who decided to form a little band and play music. That's really about it. We're a rather new band form Boston. Some of us used to be in Tremulant, some of us used to be and still are in the Plain Janes - both great Boston bands.

The Red Decade will be featuring a performance by MIT's very own Dean of Admissions Marilee Jones.
