| Born in
Havana Cuba, yours truly came to the US, not exactly what you would
call legally, at the age of 13. The byproduct of loud rumbas, a family
of physics enthusiasts, and Afro-Cuban folklore, I've been known to
occupy, and I quote, "a normalized superposition of three
states: |salsa> + |physics> + |love>, with equal
probability". Yes, I've been reduced to a finite quantum
mechanical object. I went to high school in Miami, Cuba's second capital. During my sophomore year I had an epiphany and decided to fall deeply in love with physics, afterwhich I became "captain physics". The obsession became compulsive disorder and I came to MIT 2003, graduating in three years while memorably struggling to finish chemistry and biology my last semester. I did something similar in high school and almost didn't graduate...perhaps times aren't a changin' afterall. I'm now a graduate student in Condensed Matter Theory in the wonderful Joannopoulos Group and have Steven G. Johnson as my co-advisor. I still dance plenty of salsa, like to watch old movies and take sunday strolls in the Commons. I'm the proud owner of three loving, extraordinarily upbeat and intelligent parents which often act like teenagers. I am occasionally quite lazy, which is why i built this page in geocities and copied the HTML code over my MIT directory. I hope its legal. |
