Section Unicorn heads to wine country in Pennisia pretending to be high-end wine merchants. They take a complete kit, fake bottles of Generaux's last vintage, tasting cups, a tasting cup with a secret false bottom to hide untasted wine in, a wand of magic missiles and a knock wand, a trunk of ratty theatrical supplies, an axe hidden inside a lute, some arcanological lanterns, an incendiary device, a music box of sleep, and Buntrian.
In the capital of Pennisia they hire a carriage and head north to the late Duke's lands. At his burned out estate they find a carriage house left standing, but full of goblins, and wisely elect not to get in a fight with them. They also check the ruins of the house, and in the cellars there find the ghost of the Duke. He is carrying his head under his arm and is a bit touchy about what happened, but is otherwise strangely dispassionate. He tells the story of having been cured of liver disease by an Elvish healer, and then not being able to resist their suggestions, including finally drugging his own best wine. He does point them to two bottles of older vintages of that wine that haven't been yet found by the goblins.
"So much nicer when this can be done in a civilized fashion!" - Gaius, beating himself with birch twigs in a freezing Pennisian stream, because they don't have proper baths.
They head on to his winery, which is farther away and untouched by the massacre. The King's Factor is in charge there, one Lord Guile. The lord is fat, a drunk, and very very bored after being out in the sticks all winter. This works out well for our heroes, who exchange news and pleasantries with him, and learn the general distribution of the special wine (to kings, and Pennisian dukes, mostly, the first two dozen bottles always going to the King of Pennisia himself). One bottle always goes to the wine master, and the leftover bottles to the Duke.
Last year was a bad year, they find out, and only three cases (a dozen bottles each) were made, with three extra. Of these two cases went to King Louis, one to the King of Gravla, two bottles to the Duke, and one bottle to the wine master at the vineyard.
