"Double Play"

After meeting up a short distance away, Baba, Ivar, Sasha, and Lucia sneak back to the mine. First they secure their horses and a mule from the mine. Then they sneak into Lucius's house, Sasha in the lead. They find Lucius sleeping in the study, and drug him with Baba's sleeping potion. Deciding they also have to eliminate the interloping woman (and presumed Elvish spy) they head on to the bedroom, where Sasha is bitten by a snake as she pokes her head in the door (it drops on her).

Ivar goes to the bed to deal with the woman, but finds only pillows, and the woman puts a snake in his boot from under the bed. In the ensuing trouble, she makes good her escape. Sasha and Ivar are both bit, but not too seriously. The Elvish spy doesn't try to raise an alarm in her escape. Taking Lucius and some of the top papers, they evacuate. Baba yells some things in Elvish as they go.

Back at where they stashed their horses, Ivar's keen senses spot an ambush - the tray-carrying man from the castle and a bunch of orcs. They stash the unconscious Lucius and open up on their enemies with a fireball. There follows a lot more fire as Lucia provides support to Ivar, who wades into them. Finally he beheads the last orc and presents the head to their leader on his own tray, and that ends the fight.

"Who can fight against such animals?" - the Tray-Carrying Man

Unfortunately while this has been going on the woman has returned bringing with her an ally and his pack of trained wolves. They have discovered Lucius and are fleeing with him! Ivar and Baba get on their horses and charge in, managing to stop the flight but Ivar is pulled off his horse and into the fray of wolves. A lot of flashing axe-work and even more fireballs destroy this opposition as well.

The defeated elves are executed, and then Baba and Ivar flee with the football. Sasha and Lucia take a moment to search the spies, and find that there is one more snake in the woman's clothing through the simple expedient of having it bite Lucia very badly. In the end, Sasha has to drag the delirious Lucia back to the castle as dawn approaches.
