Dear Brian,

Thank you for contacting my office.  I believe it is critical for the inter=
net to continue to foster the free expression of ideas and innovative produ=
cts and services that have become so important to our economy and our day-t=
o-day communications.  Net neutrality principles are essential to making su=
re that users can access all lawful content online regardless of source, an=
d that a handful of Internet service companies cannot decide what is access=
ible online.

Under the Trump Administration, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)=
 has been working to strip away critical protections that keep the internet=
 free and open, including net neutrality.  That's good news for giant telec=
ommunications firms, but bad news for the rest of us.  I believe that power=
ful companies should not decide how and when we use the internet. That's wh=
y I have joined letters opposing the FCC's efforts to undo net neutrality p=
rotections and requested that the FCC extend the period for the public to w=
eigh in on its proposed rulemaking aimed at undoing the Open Internet Order=
. That is also why I voted against the nomination of Ajit Pai to serve as C=
hairman of the FCC.

I will continue to fight for consumers' interests in increasingly consolida=
ted marketplaces, and to press federal regulators to use all of their tools=
 to serve the public interest and promote competition so that consumers can=
 have access to affordable, high-quality telecommunications services.
