Ride Guidelines

Please fill out the club sports waiver (pdf) before joining us on rides.

The following is a list of rules and suggestions that be followed on all MIT Cycling Club Rides

  • Traffic Laws must be obeyed at all times
  • Riders must conduct themselves respectfully
  • When "single-file" is announced, promptly and carefully fall into a single line
  • Your bike must be in safe working order
  • When unsure about the course of a ride, carry a map
  • Riders should be smooth while riding, avoid swevering
  • Riders should communicate, if stopping, turning or moving around hazards, use voice signals let people behind you know. Use hand signals if comfortable
  • Riders should let the ride leader know how you are doing, don't be ashamed to say you want to ride slower
  • Riders should NEVER wear headphones
  • Items to carry:
    • Water (about one bottle per hour)
    • Food (bars, gels, etc)
    • Equipment to change or fix a flat (tube, tire levers, pump)
    • Cell phone (optional, recommended when riding alone)
    • Cash
    • Official Identification, including medical insurance card
