"Yeah, I remember you. You were driving by and I waved, but you just continued driving. You didn't see me," says Angel Delgadillo, with a huge grin on his face, to a customer, who visited Seligman once before, when he drove Route 66 in 1936. The man laughs and replies, "No, I was driving by and I saw you on the street and I waved and waved, but you didn't see me." Angel laughs, "Ah, he's got me. Caught me at my own lie." As we spoke with Angel, whenever a car drove by, he turned to the door and waved. It didn't matter whether or not the driver saw him. Angle knew that he greeted the passer-by. Such is the friendly mentality of this 73-year-old owner of a barber turned souvenir shop and father of Historic Route 66. He is no longer a barber, but if he receives a special request, Angel will still put on his green barber's visor and apron and perform and old-fashioned shave, complete with straight razor and hot towel.
