wow.. i like this whole writing-minutes-on-the-computer-as-we-go-along thing.. :) present : fen, wilg, sh, et 1. moderator got language from beland - concept of supermajority - not currently in constitution question - do we explain how officers are elected in current const? yes - art. 3 strike sentence about supermajority no discussion addition reads as follows : Moderator : -Shall serve as chairperson of meetings -Shall set schedules and agenda for meetings in coordination with the secretary -Should ensure that all viewpoints are voiced 5-2-1 - passes (5/7) sarah will deal with constitutional changes (including formatting to fit with current constitution). 2. 2002 proposals : question - is ifc's proposal done? except for sep/oct question, yes. wilg said that want to rush w/ ifc - but cool w/ spring rush, but not as only rush et and tep have pledge programs - et has talked about timing etc. big argument within IFC between sep/oct s.h. is undecided r.e. fall rush sarah will talk to jeff (dormcon) r.e. spring rush can wait to finalize proposal - still have time until 2002 admins pushing for initiation by end of term (b/c of pn/r changes?) who? kate baxter - larry bacow? what do we want from ifc? : money kickoff daily confusion midway? what do we want from res. system? : frosh to be happy? do we want to undermine dorm rush? do we want to work with dorms? will they help us? moderate discussion on the merits of choice, and agreement that choice is a good thing no consensus on actually working with dorms. when are they (ifc/admins) deciding? about the lottery - timing, emphasis? about rush? robin and sarah will talk to dormcon robin will make outline about rush - talk with emily keep spring rush open to other houses too, but lgc focused? proposal happening over email list. robin and sarah will make sure this happens (my thesis be damned!) we will vote on it at next meeting - watch your email! 3. rush books jojo and karrisa have been sick (speculations abound) books are due on wednesday 5pm karissa will redouble efforts to talk to jojo about getting books separated or mailed out separately. sarah will draft cover letter 4. R.A.s future of RAs admins says RAs not going away tdc/wilg are having a meeting to talk about the program margaret will forward info about time similar meeting at et on thursday 9pm - et send van (by lgc houses too) show up! talk! RAs WILL happen, questions are : job description training - currently same as dorms who pays them who hires them - criteria interaction with house managers 5. mit-cambridge exchange 30 juniors participate from each uni. robin met with kirk kollenbrander (kdk) and with annie and rory about the program and housing for the cambridge folks kirk very adamant about getting fsilgs participating kirk offered us looking at cambridge students files so we could choose them. can we talk to the students? (2-way communication) robin will emphasize importance of this in next meeting kirk offered to send the 3 (robin, annie, rory) to england (!!) to meet with students and help assign them to living groups if an exchange student doesn't work out, could we ask them to leave? kirk worried about this - basically same as problems with dorms cambridge uni culture similar to ilg-living what do we need from houses to commit? 2-way communication list of expectations - house jobs, house policies, etc. fenway and et seem interested - dependent on how much communication rather have 40 places and be empty than have a person for whom we were last choice 3 presidents can also help prevent "big mistakes" if they go to england and help with selection will that perpetuate stereotypes? 6. announcements women's conference at 7:30 thursday at ifc heads-up : incident at ato w/ members of the roots alcohol was involved - fight on the roofdeck probably in globe on monday ato in damage control mode (ifc too) treasure hunt on saturday - 12pm registration, krege oval preregistration means free t-shirt going around to different houses - benefits hunger hike, bbq at 4pm - bbq pits panhel carnival is friday - not sure of location, will email out later ifc awards dinner is wednesday - chapter of the year - etc we were asked if we had any awards to give.. hehe non-residential new member education committee - tuesday 10pm, ifc office pledge programs, scheduling options, requirements, dues, etc. ilg's and redefining pledge programs do we need to make a statement about ato? not now - maybe if we disagree about what happens b/c of clc or ifc sanctions etc.. 7. next meeting 13th may, 2pm, wilg on agenda : moderator elections cambridge update prososal vote ______________ Sarah McDougal Environmental Engineering Massachusetts Institute of Technology asarahm@mit.edu
