The rest of the packages are available via ftp, but they are not tarred up like the base is for ftp install. You will have to do some playing to get them to your system still unless you have ethernet to your PC. With the base system, you get basic networking, but no ppp, slip, or sz/rz package. At least at first, if you want more software, you'll probably need to get the packages the same way you got your distribution. To find out what you need to get, do the following:
cd into the directory where the distribution is and then
cd into rpps.mget *.ser and grab all the series files that look
like they might contain things you want.

From these, you can find the names of the packages you want to
FTP. For example, if you want minicom, the name of the file you
want is minicom-1.68-bin.rpp.rpp-install filename.rpp.
