At IBM, I am a member of Dynamic Optimization Group. At MIT, I work closely with the
Commit and
Raw groups.
I am currently leading a new project called Liquid
Metal that explores new programming paradigms that aim to
blend the boundaries between software and hardware.
I am generally interested in the design, implementation, and analysis of
introspective and evolutionary computing systems. Topics of
research include programming
languages, compilers, and architecture.

Our paper on Liquid Metal was accepted for publication in the 2008 European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming.
I am organizing the third annual workshop on software tools for multicore systems (STMCS). The workshop is colocated with CGO.
A new version of Trimaran is now available. It features automatic vectorization, support for multi-clustered architectures, and a framework for ISA exploration.
Our paper on a lightweight streaming layer for multicores was presented at dasCMP.
Our paper on efficient debugging using accelerated software watchpoints was accepted for publication in the 2008 Conference on Compiler Construction (CC).

I held a tutorial at Embedded Systems Week on using the Sony PLAYSTATION3 consoles for both research and teaching. The tutorial slides are available for download.
I co-taught 6.189 during IAP 2007. This course is a parallel programing primer, and features hands on projects using Sony PLAYSTATION3 consoles. More information is available on the course web page.
Paper on Ubiquitous Memory Introspection (online, all the time, mini-simulations of the memory hierarchy, for online optimizations) was presented at CGO 2007.
