Biographical Sketch :


I  joined MIT in January 2001 as an Assistant Professor of Physics. Before that,

I spent a few years as a postdoctoral fellow at the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics in Santa

Barbara, CA. My graduate degree is from Yale University , and my

undergraduate degree is from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

In January 2005 I took leave from MIT to join the faculty of the

Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India. I returned to MIT in

February 2007.  I am also a Distinguished Research Chair at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical

Physics.
