(Untitled)
A vignette inspired by a quote from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s novel The Wisdom of the Sands: “The friend within the man is that part of him which belongs to you and opens to you a door which never, perhaps, is opened to another. Such a friend is true, and all he says is true; and he loves you even if he hates you in other mansions of his heart.”
(Untitled) (Part II)
A continuation to (Untitled). At the riverside, she reminisces.
Small Favours
Ultimately, she is grateful for small favours.
Время Выбирать (A Time to Choose)
What should you do when there is a person whom you love and respect so much that you do not want to contravene his advice?
Dirge Without Music
A vignette inspired by the title of Edna St. Vincent Millay's poem Dirge Without Music. Sometimes, all it takes is the willingness to do it.
Translations
The Death of Lu Xun
A vignette about the life of Lu Xun, the brilliant Commander-in-Chief of the Three Kingdoms period who defeated Liu Bei at Yiling and later became the Prime Minister of Wu. It traces his accomplishments over the years, finally culminating in his death from vexation and grief when Sun Quan refused to grant him a hearing regarding the issue of primogeniture and repeatedly sent messengers from the court to reprimand him.
Zhuge Liang and Jiang Wei—Endless Regret
A poignant and heartrending elegy to Zhuge Liang, Chancellor of Shu, and his protégé Jiang Wei that analyses the lives they consciously chose: bitter and gruelling, but lofty and purposeful; and questions whether they ever regretted the decisions they made.
