D13. Demonstration of an Electrophorus
ELECTROSTATICS - Electrostatic Induction
The electrophorus consists of a plastic base plate and a metal disk with an insulating handle. The plate is charged negatively by rubbing it with fur. The metal disk is placed on the plate, grounded, and left with a net positive charge. This can be shown by transferring the charge to an electroscope by means of a proof plane.
