Hello! This is the personal webpage of Wing-Ho Ko, currently a graduate student in Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), working with professor Patrick A. Lee, in the field of condensed matter theory. My current research focus is on superconductor and quantum magnets.
This page is a losse and partial collection of online and electronic materials related to me.
My Research Papers, Presentations, Posters, etc.
-
Extended Gutzwiller approximation for inhomogeneous systems
[PRB,
arXiv]
A paper on introducing spin-and-site-dependent fugacity factors to generalize the Gutzwiller approximation.
-
Spontaneous spin ordering of Dirac spin liquid in a magnetic field
[PRL,
arXiv]
A paper discussing the effect of external magnetic field on the 2D spin-1/2 kagome lattice (realized in, e.g., Herbertsmithite). Built upon a previous paper that suggests a Dirac-U(1) spin-liquid state for such system.
-
Doped Kagome System as Exotic Superconductor with Fractional Quasiparticles
[arXiv]
A paper discussing the effect of doping the 2D spin-1/2 kagome lattice with holes. Again based on the Dirac-U(1) spin-liquid state.

A poster on the same topic [pdf]

Boulder Summer School notes
[link]
Notes I took when attending the Boulder Summer School 2008, which is titled "strongly correlated materials." To my honor, the organizers found these notes accurate and high-quality enough to be posted alongside with the notes/slides of the original speakers.

MIT physics general exams notes
Cheat-sheet-like notes I prepared for myself when I studied for the physics general exams (a.k.a. qualifiers) at MIT. May be useful for revisions on the respective topics/subjects beyond the narrow purpose of the general exams (e.g., I used my part III notes as quick reminders for myself when T.A.-ing for graduate level solid state classes).

MIT graduate-level statistical mechanics cheat-sheets
-
Stat Mech I midterm [pdf]
-
Stat Mech I final [pdf]
-
Stat Mech II final [pdf]
Cheat-sheet-like notes I prepared for myself when I studied for the graduate-level statistical mechanics courses at MIT (lectured by Prof. Mehran Kardar).
-
Complex analysis review notes [pdf]
Notes originally written for the graduate-level quantum mechanics course at MIT when I T.A. the class in Fall 2006 (lectured by Prof. Robert Jaffe). The contents are later texed up (for whatever reasons...).
-
2nd quantization review notes [pdf]
Notes originally written for the graduate-level solid state theory course at MIT when I T.A. the class in Fall 2008 (lectured by Prof. Patrick Lee). This version is slightly updated from the one I sent to the class.

Errata
Errata of my notes that I've so far spotted out but uncorrected in the originals
(I'm not actively hunting for errors. If you spot one, please let me know so that I can add it to the list. Also let me know if you want to be mentioned for your discovery).
