November 5, 2004
Today we met for the first time we utilized the coordination meeting
time as the Las Iguanas section rather than in our individual island
groups. During the meeting we discussed how to spend the remaining time
we have in order to combine the research and plans of each island group
into a comprehensive, coherent plan for the Galapagos Islands. It was
decided that we would split into subgroups based on the three different
objectives. Fortunately, the number of people in each objective group
were roughly equal. I am in Objective group #1; we will be working to
create an international biopreserve for the Galapagos Islands.
In addition to the three objective
groups, there will be two other groups comprised of members from each
of the three objective groups. These two groups will serve to design
the section website and put together the final presentation. The
purpose of taking members from each of the three objective groups is to
ensure that information from each objective is presented in the website
and in the final presentation.
A timeline of due dates was also set up
to ensure steady progress towards our goals. We have decided to have
everything for the website complete a week early (on November 22) so
that the website group has ample time to create the website. We also
decided that we would have completed our designs by November 15. Until
then we will continue research and try to reconcile the different plans
each island group created in order to make a single comprehensive plan.
