Where to find the computer files for the Kalish problem
To do the Kalish pricing problem set (also known as the CLEANERBOT scenario,
due in class on Wednesday, March 6), you will need an Excel workbook which
implements the Kalish model.
The easiest way to obtain this workbook is to download it from this page,
as follows:
PC users, click to download the file KALISH.XLW
If that doesn't work, click to download the UUencoded file KALISH.XLW.uu
Mac users, click to download the file Kalish-pricing-problem.hqx
(These files are identical, except that the Mac version has been BinHexed
and the alternate PC file has been UUencoded to make file transfer go more
smoothly.)
Note: the file you can download here contains all of the
files mentioned in your problem set, all conveniently bound together into
a single Excel workbook. In other words, each of the following files can
be found on a separate sheet in the workbook:
- PPEXCS.XLS - the Kalish spreadsheet
- PRICEPO.XLC - chart of market potential versus price
- ADVRESP.XLC - chart of advertising response
- UNCERTNT.XLC - chart of the uncertainty discount versus penetration
- AW&POT&A.XLC - chart of awareness, potential buyers, and actual
adopters over time
- INCOME.XLC - chart of net income over time
- UNITSAL.XLC - chart of unit sales over time
As mentioned on the problem set handout, you may also find the relevant
files in the Sloan PC computer lab in the following directory:
G:\COURSE\15035\
However, the version available here on the Web site is considerably more
convenient to use. The version available here has been cleaned up to make
it spreadsheet easy to read, and all of the files have been bound together
into a convenient workbook form. Isn't technology great?
