In the LTA (Lighter Than Air) Vehicle Design Project, 16.00 students divide into teams and work together, using what they have learned in the course, to design and build a blimp. They must go through a Preliminary Design Review and a Complete Design Review as a team, and each individual student also must keep a portfolio, recording notes, thoughts, sketches, and calculations related to the project. At the end of the course, the teams race their blimps.
