Each 2.00b student is expected to attend and stay for the entire PLAYsentations, unless you have an unavoidable conflict. Starting at 6:30 PM, there will be free food and an inflatable obstacle course. PLAYsentations start at 7:15PM sharp. Please see the logistics below for when you must be seated in the team seating area, which has a chair for each student.
You may invite family and friends to watch in-person in Killian Court or online on Monday, May 15 (rain date: Tuesday, May 16). Guest seating is in the Killian Court, which will be covered with flooring (for graduation). Guests are welcome to bring blankets or lawn chairs, if they wish. A limited number of chairs will be available for guests.
The webcast will start at 7:15PM at https://playsentations.com.
The PLAYsentations will start at 7:15PM SHARP.
Students should arrive in costume. You will be picking up your costumes at the dress rehearsal on Sunday.
Students are invited to participate in the Q&A by submitting questions for the other teams via the PLAYsentations website.
Please enthusiastically applaud all the teams as if it was your own team.
(Optional) You may bring a device (e.g., tablet or laptop) so that you can submit questions for other teams, but please use them sparingly.
During each team's presentation, your attention should be on the stage or large stage monitors.
Please avoid moving between locations during a team's presentation and Q&A session. If you need to leave or return to your seat, please do so during the transition period between teams.
Teams will be presenting their prototypes in the following order:
If your toy has audio or your PLAYsentation will include audio elements, please see the audio page for details about deadlines and special audio testing sessions.
PDL (3-004) and 5-007 will be open 9AM-5PM on Monday for students to work. Student work hours in PDL and 5-007 end at 5PM.
Please drop off prototypes between 3:00-5:00PM on Monday. All prototypes and props must be dropped off at the stage tent in Killian Court by 5:00 PM on Monday. There will be designated tables for toy prototypes labelled with your team's name. Please put your prototype on the table that has your team's name.
Each team has a designated team area in Killian Court, identified by a large globe light with the team logo on it. Students must sit in their team area. A seat is provided for each team member (so you do not need to bring a blanket to sit on). Each team area will have a large monitor playing the livestream. Refreshments are available at the food trucks. Please enjoy the refreshments throughout the presentations.
Each team's presentation is up to 2 minutes long, followed by 1 minute of Q&A. There will be an on-stage timer for the 2 minutes, so that you can be aware of how much time you have left.
Please review the PLAYsentation tips video for additional details on how to structure your story.
Please do not invite questions from the audience. Instead, Professor Wallace will be moderating the question session.
There will be about a 1-minute transition period between teams.
In general, each team will be escorted to the stage tent during the transition time before the second team ahead of them. In the stage tent, team members will be outfitted with microphones, and then will wait in the tent until it is their turn to present.
After the team presentation, staff will take a quick team picture, then team members return to the stage tent and the microphones will be removed. The team will be escorted back to their team area during the next transition period.
All teams should wait for a staff member to escort you from your seating area to the tent and back.
