2.00b Toy Product Design
Illustrator and Fusion 360 installation
Adobe Illustrator and AutoDesk's Fusion360 can be useful tools in the toy design process. We will be getting our feet wet using them in the first week's labs. MIT students qualify for free licenses to both.
Adobe Illustrator
- MIT students may request licenses for the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, which includes Adobe Illustrator, by following the instructions on this page. License requests are processed nightly. So please request your license a few days before you need to use the software, in case there are any issues with getting your license.
- Cross-registered students should be able to get a license once you have an MIT athena account. Please get that set up quickly. Adobe also has a limited free trial for first-time users. You can install the free trial right before you need to use it for class.
Fusion 360
- All students can download a free student version of Fusion 360. If you previously had a student license that has since expired, you can also update it. You will need to register with your school email address and upload proof of student status to qualify for the license. If you have any difficulty, please email 200b-sysadmin@mit.edu
- The "proof of student status" should have a recent date on it. The MIT ID is not sufficient. For example, a screenshot from the registrar's website showing you are registered for the current semester usually works.
