Problem Sets: Problem sets are assigned each Friday. Students are to submit homework for grading the following Friday.

Quizzes: There will be one mid-term quiz as shown on the class schedule. The quiz will be Closed Book with, one self-prepared 8-1/2 by 11 inch sheet of useful information, permitted.

Final Examination: There will be a three hour final examination (Closed Book) covering all of the course material during the final examination period; the exact time to be scheduled by the Registrar's Office.

Grading Policy:Grades in this course will be assigned according to each student's demonstrated knowledge of the course material. The Department of Mechanical Engineering has adopted the following guidelines for undergraduate courses:

-approximately 25% A's
-approximately 40% B's
-approximately 25% C's
-approximately 10% D's and F's
In assessing grades, performance will be weighted as follows:
Homework--->25%
Mid-term Quiz---->25%
Final Exam--->50%

Course Ethics: Collaboration is prohibited in the quizzes and the final examination. Collaboration in the form of group discussion of the problem sets is encouraged but each student is required to submit an original solution.
