Storyboard Barreling Bus: innovativeness and potential

Client 1:

Be very careful about making puzzle that require prior knowledge (knowledge of birth stones). Requiring guests to be know something from outside of the game space can be very frustrating.

Reviewer 2:

The storyboard on barreling bus is very innovative ad novel concept. It gels well with the main room theme of the Post-apocalyptic city.

I have following comments:

(1)The flow of the storyboard seems confusing initially. When I read it I was not sure whether its left to right or top to bottom. It might be a good idea to use a template provided on 2.744 website or create a website using one picture at a time and writing the corresponding text next to it. This will help the reader to go through the content briskly and will avoid confusion.

(2)The game seems to be a classic escape room game. The game doesn't ensure participation of all players as the passcode to open the emergency stop button can be easily found by a single player while other players do nothing. Maybe it will be a good idea to redesign the game keeping in mind the client's requirements.

(3)Solving the puzzle in 90 seconds might be a bit tough and too short for certain audience. AS per client's requirements a game should last at least 2-3 mins with 25% win rate. It might be helpful to add in more gags in this game to ensure that every player gets to participate and game meets the basic client requirements.

Reviewer 3:

I think the urgency of the premise is engaging. I'm a little confused by the amethyst and the drawings, it doesn't seem connected to the theme. Perhaps think about other elements of the bus that could lead to the answer, maybe a series of blinking lights or other signs on the bus

Reviewer 4:

I like the Speed-inspired idea of a train about to crash into a hospital.

The concept of looking around the room for objects that contain numbers is quite common to escape rooms and would be a mental modal they understand and a good challenge for the players.

I understand the objective of the game, but I don't understand the clues themselves. (e.g. why is amethyst = 2? Is this common knowledge?)

Potential, feasibility, user experience and human factors shown in the concept sketch, General bus interior

Client 1:

Cool looking room. What are the windows? Are they monitors with videos shot from a moving bus?

Reviewer 2:

The general bus interior concept sketch is very well executed, clear, concise, and communicates the details of the interior of the bus brilliantly. 1 point perspective drawing technique has been used to depict the interior of the bus clearly. Appropriate selection of colors and shading patterns goes nicely with the bus interior.

Reviewer 3:

I think this is quite feasible - it doesn't require very much space and it would be easy to recreate.

Reviewer 4:

The bus interior seems very feasible to make, and if you have projections playing in the windows, it's very easy to communicate that the bus is moving. You could also play a track that produce outdoor sound or noises of people screaming outside so the players understand that there's something wrong with the bus.

Potential, feasibility, user experience and human factors shown in the concept sketch, Driver's area

Client 1:

What type of clues are there? What are the guests suppose to discover or find in the pictures? How do they know the difference between false clues and the real ones?

Reviewer 2:

I have following comments:

(1)Concept sketch of driver's area is basically the same concept sketch as the bus interior - either its an error during the HTML code or it was meant to be the same concept sketch with minor modifications to display driver's area.

(2)If it was meant to be the sketch that depicts driver's area then the pictures clipped to the sun visor and necklace hanging around the rear view mirror is missing in the concept sketch.

Reviewer 3:

Ah. Now I see where the drawings and amethyst come into play. Before it seemed like they were just random objects. I like the personal touches that make the bus seem more realistic.

Reviewer 4:

Judging from the Driver's area section in the storyboard (the driver's area concept photo is the same as the bus interior one, not sure if that was intentional), I think that the clues seem a bit difficult. I'm not sure how common knowledge it is that that rock is an Amethyst, and Amethyst = 2nd month of the year, especially outside of a north american context.

Potential, feasibility, user experience and human factors shown in the concept sketch, Emergency button

Client 1:

Is the box above the button necessary? That is a moving part that has the potential to break. Does the value of a cover match the coolness to design and fabricate it?

Reviewer 2:

Good use of 2 point perspective drawing to display the details of the emergency stop button. Different shades and tones of grey color helps to create a bit of depth in the sketch. Specifically, I liked the legends that explained various components of the assembly - really helps the reader to identify the individual components and their functions.

Reviewer 3:

This would be am easy gadget to make. It's clear how it will self reset and would be intuitive for the user.

Reviewer 4:

Like the idea of an emergency hatch that can be easily reset, having a push button is easy and doesn't require physical changes by a person.

Sketching technique, clarity of storyboard and concept sketches, and their web presentation

Client 1:

This concept would be much clearer if the clues were presented. It does not have to be a fully flushed out puzzle, but what kind of a game is it? Slightly more detail would have made this much easier to understand.

Reviewer 2:

All 1 & 2 point perspective drawings are executed well and shaded appropriately. Concept sketches are very well labeled and makes it easy to understand them. The website design is also good - making use of light background color immediately focuses reader's attention on the main content of the website. The website is free of errors/bugs, well organized and very easy to navigate.

Comments:

(1)The flow of the storyboard seems confusing initially. When I read it I was not sure whether its left to right or top to bottom. It might be a good idea to use a template provided on 2.744 website or create a website using one picture at a time and writing the corresponding text next to it. This will help the reader to go through the content briskly and will avoid confusion.

(2)Concept sketch 2 of driver's area does not really communicate what the description says - either its an error in the HTML code or wrong picture has been uploaded.

Reviewer 3:

I like the overall set up of the website. It's clean and easy to follow, and the navigation up top makes it easy to get around.

The sketching is quite simple and I like the use of colors.

I thought the storyboard was a little confusing. It would have been helpful to see the drawing and amethyst in the first panel to help me orient where they are in the scene.

Reviewer 4:

The sketches were able to explain the idea and the web presentation had links. The storyboard and concept sketches were acceptable.
