Quality and thoroughness of human-use analysis and improvement suggestions

Reviewer 1:

I thought the analysis was thorough; I especially liked the consideration of the environmental factors surrounding the conveyor belt like how people naturally congregate and may be confused by the layout. Identification of the bottleneck (having to scrape food into compost) was also key. Similarly I thought it was interesting how you highlighted the confusion between grouping recycling and compost, but then decoupling trash from that and how users find that unintuitive to use. Maybe you could have quantified the analysis simply by recording the time taken for different users to finish the task of turning in their dishes with and without the additional garbage bins. It might also be interesting to hear from actual users what some of their complaints or concerns might be.

Reviewer 2:

The analysis has the right sections taken into consideration and the right steps. However, there are areas you could improve. Here are some suggestions:

1. Would be useful to do some primary research and speak to a few student users and segment them into categories based on the issues they might state.

2. The solutions might need more brainstorming, especially when it comes to improving space and layout and smell. Would be good to come up with a few different ways to solve those problems.

Reviewer 3:

Appreciated the photos of the bottleneck and how the system is backed up based on the recycling and the compost bins. This is a clear area for improvement that is targeted after your explanation.

I think there could be more focus on the rest of the process and how they could also be improved - multiple drop off locations, opening up the window a little wider for more students to gain access, putting a vertical plate stack that automatically dumps the food into a compost bin off your plate as it goes through the conveyor.

Reviewer 4:

The differentiating needs of the two completely different lead users of the conveyer belt are great! The experience also helps to understand the working principle of the conveyor belt in dining halls.

The improvements sound relatively easy to implement except for the smell part. Instead of focusing on redesigning the conveyor belt, maybe you can suggest a temporary solution of an air freshner?

Clarity and presentation of human-use experience analysis

Reviewer 1:

The presentation of the analysis was clear and concise. With just very few typos, it was easy to follow and the website had no bugs so overall the clarity was well done. Graphically I liked the theme of the website; the fonts used were appropriate for the different type of texts e.g. titles, body, image descriptions. etc.

Reviewer 2:

The presentation itself was good with useful visuals and clear explanations. Would be good to have all sub sections of your analysis (introduction, function and users etc.) listed somewhere on top so users know what they are reading through and what's left. Also, given its just all in one big scroll, it might be difficult for users to navigate the website if they want to move up or down and toggle.

Reviewer 3:

All together a strong communication for the issues you faced within the dish drop-off situation. There is clearly room for improvement and you made it clear the issues that you and others have seen in the past (mixing up recycling for compost due to poor signage, the terrible smell, and the tight layout).

Reviewer 4:

The website is easy to read and contains a good amount of visuals to guide the users through the journey.
