Quality and thoroughness of human-use analysis and improvement suggestions

Reviewer 1:

The author really delved into analyze the issues with the T, first starting from analyzing the different services and typical users, then actually experiencing a full T bus/train ride. The background information about the T helped me understand what the users expect out of a typical T experience, and what the T aims to offer to their users. I was really impressed with the detail of the experience and how the author noticed small things, like the map that is posted on the bus stop wall, and how unintuitive it is. It was interesting to hear from other users as well, and the author separated them in different categories that is later analyzed in the solutions. I would have liked to know what kinds of people the author interviewed, just to get a background on what kinds of people look for what services. For the solutions, it would have been nice if the author focused on two problems and found concrete solutions with perhaps an example of an interface of the app to make it more visual.

Reviewer 2:

Wow, there was a lot covered here! I have been taking the T for a while and it looks like you have most of it down! Between the interviews and secondary research on rider profiles it is clear that you put a lot of time into this. The documentation of your first hand experience using buses and the subway was great, and using Uber and Lyft to benchmark off of for users like us was perfect. Might be less applicable to other groups, but for the college/young adult group traveling for leisure it makes a lot of sense.

It is going to be difficult to come up with two improvements, but I will do my best!

1st, I did not find it obvious at first that the "T-stops" at the top of the page were links because they were the same size as the rest of the text. Making those bolder would make it more obvious. I didn't realize it until I got to the end and thought "Is this is?" and tried clicking around more. Might just be me because I am tired, but making headers bigger would not hurt!

2nd, I would say a good area to bring this to the next step would be interviewing those that use the T to commute every single day to work as you might get different perspectives. Given that they made the largest group of people from your research, it would be awesome to talk with more of them! I see how they would have been hard in this time frame and would not have expected it, so it is only a suggestion for the future!

Reviewer 3:

Fantastic! Your analysis is extremely thorough and you really considered all of the major aspects of the T. Well done in your user interviews, and your suggestions are spot-on - I would love a T app! I'm not sure where I would suggest how to improve, but perhaps considering how extreme users might use the T or the app differently. How would someone who doesn't speak English navigate it? Or someone with limited mobility?

Clarity and presentation of human-use experience analysis

Reviewer 1:

The website was well organized, where the tabs on the side were very intuitive indications of what to expect when I clicked on them. The sections were split up effectively and in a clear analytical order that allowed me to follow the thought process of the author in the process of trying to improve the T. With the exception of some strange symbols on the "Typical User" tab in the Closer Look Section, the text was easy to follow. Although for the conclusion portion, it may be more effective to "show not tell" and have more illustrations of interface designs of the app, instead of trying to explain it in a paragraph. I liked the touch that the tabs looked like T-lines where you clicked on each station to move from one tab to the other!

Reviewer 2:

I think I addressed my thoughts on the presentation above, but the only area to improve would be making the T-stop links at the top of the page more obvious. But the layout was easy to follow, clear, visually appealing, and I thought the T-Stops at the top were very creative! Awesome job!

Reviewer 3:

Great presentation! I love that the menu navigation is the T stops, that's very clever.
