Quality and thoroughness of human-use analysis and improvement suggestions

Reviewer 1:

Great analysis! Very detailed and well thought out. In fact, I think some parts might be a little too detailed, and could use some summarization. Same goes with your images - you have a lot of photos, but it might be better to have fewer photos that better illustrate your points. Overall, very good.

Reviewer 2:

I am a regular user of the Hubway and could very well relate to the topic! I was curious to find out the way the author would redesign the popular service. I must say that the time spent in collecting the information about the product, the user reviews and experiencing it is evident in this detailed analysis.

I couldn't think of a better way to include all the aspects that were necessary for the assignment. It clearly outlines the overall experience by showing pictures of each step and then including a video for explanation as well. And, it's not just the volume, the quality of the content is also up to the mark.

Reviewer 3:

I think your analysis was very thorough and really illustrated the various steps required to ride a hubway bike. As someone who has never used hubway before, I feel like after reading this analysis I would know exactly what to do, and what problems to expect to make it seem like I am a veteran rider.

It was a little difficult to see what was written on each screen in the experience portion since the image sizes were slightly small. I think it would have been easier to read if you had 3 images per row instead of 4 so that each image could be slightly bigger.

I also loved the sketches you drew for the improvements, the details you added to each image really takes them to the next level. Perhaps adding annotations that point out the various components you are suggesting to add or improve in order to illustrate what you describe in the words beneath the picture (for instance pointing out the bell, gear shift and phone holder on the image itself, and then reiterating those points through words)

Reviewer 4:

Great background information on bike shares for the uninitiated. Incredibly thorough description of all steps of the user experience, especially the ordering screens. Good survey of different users and summarizing their perspectives. The recommended improvements can be strengthened by identifying which screens to remove or consolidate. A recommended screen progression/layout could stand on its own as one of the improvements. Including more contrast on the gear shift is an elegant solution to a problem several users identified.

Clarity and presentation of human-use experience analysis

Reviewer 1:

The website could definitely use some work. Navigation is quite poor, and makes it difficult to jump to any one page. The color scheme is also not very pleasing to the eye. Though I understand the temptation to go with green for Hubway, it doesn't look very professional. The webpages are also not scaled properly, requiring both vertical and horizontal scrolling to navigate on my browser. And in general, the information hiearchy is quite poor, requiring my eye to jump around all over the page.

Reviewer 2:

The website looks great! It shares the color scheme of the content used by Hubway on their signage. The way the information has been arranged is also wonderful.

However, the website, in my opinion, should have included buttons/links to each aspect of the analysis in the home page itself. Although, I understand that the author wanted to convey this information in a specific order but, if someone really wants to view the redesign part before the complete experience then, the website should cater to that as well.

Reviewer 3:

I liked the way you organized the experience portion in the grid-like format, making it easy to read and follow your trip.

At first I did not understand what you meant by the physical map and the kiosk being separate at the Vassar station until I reached the solutions page and saw each component clearly drawn. Part of the confusion stemmed from the fact that I was not sure which photo I was supposed to look at to notice the separation as there are three photos for that single caption. Additionally, a quick annotation of the photo highlighting the two components would have been helpful.

Reviewer 4:

The analysis followed a generally logical progression. The main potential for improvement is placing the user reviews (which act as a hypothesis) before your experience (the experiment). The description of user needs and intended experience was clear and concise. However, the handle bar improvement did not follow smoothly from the identified "weak spots." The gear changes were binned under "adjustments to the bike," which could be interpreted as other things like seat adjustments. The graphics were presented very well. Showing the entire bike with key items highlighted and in call out boxes quickly oriented the reader and provided context. Overall, the experience was presented in a very clear and logical fashion.
