Quality and thoroughness of human-use analysis and improvement suggestions

My general impressions about the review are positive. The report is quite thorough and well thought out. But it provides only a single-sided perspective about the roku device. Especially given that this is a well known commercial product, it should be very easy to find other people's comments and opinions about the device. Amazon reviews is a goldmine in this case. Other questions that would be interesting to explore what are some unintended uses that people have found for the product. Especially with hardware products, people use them for all sorts of weird things, and it would be funny to explore some of those use cases. Also interesting to see is in what ways people have hacked the system - both the software and the hardware parts of it. What are some questions that people have about the system? Why are some users choosing to buy it but others would not? What are some challenges that individual from different backgrounds face when using the system - e.g. what language options are available, are the menus easy to see, is there voice based navigation, etc?

Great choice of analysis, I recently installed a Roku myself! Appreciate the background on the industry and how competitive it is - adds context to the importance of the analysis. Thorough documentation of every step in the experience including things that went wrong like buffering with the Roku stick directly in the TV. The colored buttons are a great solution to limited apps on the Roku Stick. Would have been good to see more critiques and proposed solutions outside of this and the HDMI extension, for example logging into apps once with your normal username and password as you would on your computer/phone.

Your analysis of Roku was really well done. I appreciated the background and description of the device as well as why it was useful for your particular use case. The detailed information about all the Roku options made it clear that you had done your research. I also liked the separation of user experience into setup and use. It would have been great to have a more detailed section on user needs in order to analyze exactly what users (yourself and others you could interview) need out of a streaming device. Then, you could compare that to the actual experience provided by Roku. Similarly, separating the critiques page into two pages- one focusing on critiques and the other on a redesign- would have been helpful. This way, you could have a summary of all the main issues followed by a redesign that indicates ways to fix those issues seamlessly.

I think the quality and thoughtfulness of Hans's user experience analysis is fantastic. In a very organized and systematic fashion, he outlines what the Roku streaming stick is, how it works, and what benefits and drawbacks it provides. I found Hans's insights to be very helpful, and he provides intricate details such that a reader who has no knowledge of the Roku can still follow his assessments and analyses. The only critique I would have for Hans is to expand more on the solutions that answer to his critiques. He did a great job of describing the downsides of the Roku, but provided minimal explanations of how to improve upon or fix these issues. I think doing so would be very helpful to closing the loop on the human use analysis.

Clarity and presentation of human-use experience analysis

The presentation is well done and clear. The website is well designed and easy to read on a large wide screen from afar. The use of text and pictures is properly managed. On several of the pages, there were strange characters that should not be there. This website may help with that: [url] It would have been helpful if at the bottom of the page, there was a "Next" button.

Overall, clear, easy to use website. Some symbols were showing as code in the text, otherwise, the content read well. Minor user feedback - but would have been helpful to have navigation link to the next page at the bottom of the page, as my cursor is naturally there to move on. It wasn't clear how you changed the buttons on the Roku remote until I took a glance at my own one - perhaps a before/after side by side would have illustrated the improvement more clearly.

The overall website was structured well and easy to use! You had a few issues with weird symbols appearing due to copy and pasting special characters. A quick proofread would have helped with that and made the website seem a lot more professional! I really appreciated the pictures throughout the analysis- they helped frame the discussion and clarified points that non-Roku users might have been confused about. The selection bar at the top made it easy to navigate from one page to another- if you had included "back" and "next" links at the bottom, that would have made it even easier to use!

I think the clarity and presentation of Hans's human use experience analysis of the Roku streaming stick are great. I found the structure and navigation of the website to be seamless and easy to follow. Each section is explained with the right amount of detail and is very concise. The one very minor improvement I would suggest for Hans is that there are certain instances where the text is not appearing properly. In some cases, a word appears with foreign symbols or characters.
